Medio del Semestre dos

Bible Classes

Since my last post, we’ve had classes on Colossians, Philippians, World Religions, Discipleship, and Romans. Romans is a two-week class and we are halfway through right now. I have really been enjoying this semester’s classes! So far, they have been very informational and challenging. These classes have all challenged me to study further on my own and to dig into the word deeper.

Spanish Classes

Spanish has been a lot of fun this semester! Though it can still be frustrating at times, it has been good to see my own growth. We have been focusing on learning everything that the book teaches so that we can practice it on our own, so we’ve been moving pretty quickly.

Ministry

Ministry has been going well this semester! Since camp, youth group has changed a bit. We have a lot more people coming regularly, which is a huge answer to prayers! We now do a more personally challenging way of leading the lessons. The students are given a passage to go through and questions to answer before we talk about it in a full group. This will hopefully help them learn to study more on their own and find truth on their own. We have also been challenging them to memorize the books of the Bible, more and more each week.

Due to the coronavirus, ministry has been cancelled for at least this weekend and next weekend. We are hoping that this won’t be extended and that we will be able to continue investing in our ministries with the short time we have left here.

All the girls dressed up for the awesome, super fun dinner the guys made for Valentine’s Day!

Story Time!

A couple weeks ago, my cousin Amber came to visit! She stayed with Sami in Santa Rosa and I was able to stay there an extra day. We went to a Starbucks coffee plantation, saw how they make the coffee and then drink it right where it was grown, roasted, and made! This was a great weekend to do something fun, recharge, and spend time with Amber, Sami, and Brandon!

Future Plans!

A couple weeks ago, I made the official decision to commit to Clarks Summit University! I will be starting this coming Fall, studying counseling. I will be a part of a 5-year program to earn my Master’s Degree, but my time here will count for a full year of credits, so I will only have to be there for 4 years. I am super excited for this next step and cannot wait to see where God takes me with it!

Prayer Requests

  • Sickness! There are lots of colds and other illnesses going around the villa, please pray that we can stay as healthy as possible and that we can stay focused even when we’re sick.
  • Corona Virus… there have been few reported cases of the virus in Costa Rica, but we are still working to take whatever precautions are necessary to stay safe and healthy. Weekend ministries have been cancelled for the next two weekends as well as our trip to Panama. Two students, Kayla and Jeremy, have decided to go home, but so far, the rest of us will be staying here. I will be sure to update if that changes! Meanwhile, please pray that we can all stay safe and calm, remembering that God is not surprised.
  • We are in the final stretch of GAP! We’re halfway through the semester and looking at graduation coming up in less than 2 months. Pray that we can all prepare to finish strong and make the most of our last bit of time here.
